Grand Total: Nielsen has released The Total Audience Report for Q1 2016 (view here), which shows AM/FM radio with the biggest number of Adult users per month at 240 million. Live + DVR/Time-Shifted TV is second with 226 million, though it leads in average time spent per day at 4 hours, 31 minutes. Radio is second by that measure at 1 hour, 52 minutes, which is up 1% from 2015. The biggest daily time increase by platform came among Tablets, which rose by 63% compared to 2015. Other highlights:
- Radio has the most consistent share of time spent across demographics.
- Radio's heaviest users by time spent are P50-64 (15 hours, 9 minutes) while its lightest were P12-17 (6 hours, 55 minutes), both of which are down from 2015.
- Availability of SVOD programming (Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime) is now equal to DVR penetration.
