» Spring Arbitron Highlights: Here are some highlights from recently released spring books. Next Monday’s Country Aircheck Music Edition will feature a complete rundown of all the markets released thus far. All shares are 12+.

  • WPOC/Baltimore moved 8.6-8.8 but fell from first to second following a 8.0-9.4 move by Radio One Urban WERQ.
  • WGAR/Cleveland rebounded from a 6.1 last fall to a 7.8. It vaulted from fifth to a tie for second.
  • WWYZ/Hartford is up 7.2-7.6, its third up book in a row. It remains third.
  • KRTY/San Jose moves into a tie for fifth 12+ with a 3.4-3.7 move.
  • WTHI/Terre Haute, IN continued its market dominance with a 20.7. Although good for yet another in a long line of first-place finishes, it was down from Fall ’06’s 25.6. WTHI still maintains a 5.8 share lead over the No. 2 station.
  • WKKO/Toledo moved 15.1-13.9, but maintained its grip on the 12+ crown. It’s lead over the second place station is 6.2 shares.
  • WMZQ/Washington made a nice 3.3-4.0 move, and an even nicer 11-6 12+ market rank leap.


» Da Do Ron Ron: CBS Radio WYCD/Detroit MD/Digital Director Ron Chatman has exited the station, effective today. PD Tim Roberts says he does not expect to name a replacement. Reach Chatman here.

» Gig Mac: Saga Communications WPOR/Portland, ME OM Chris Mac is heading the search for a PD/afternoon jock to replace Harry Nelson, who has resigned (CAT 7/26). Airchecks and resumes here.


» Wrecking Ball: The Wreckers' Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp have announced they will put their duo-work on hold later this year to pursue solo projects.

» Spitzer Sweethearts: WAYA/Athens, TN morning hosts Captain Bobby Bird and Uncle Bill Hughes hosted a "Pay For Play Day" to benefit the Athens Family Readiness Group. Listeners donated $5 per song request, raising a total of $3,200 in 14 hours.

» Morning Glory: Mercury's Sugarland performed this morning on Good Morning America's Summer Concert series. If you missed the performance, you can watch it here.

» Chronicle: Condolences to the family and friends of former KWEN/Tulsa jock Jan Dean who passed away from brain cancer Wednesday (7/25). She began her Oklahoma radio career at KWEN before eventually moving to Shamrock Communications's Alternative KMYZ & Classic Hits KTSO/Tulsa. During her tenure at Shamrock, she advanced from jock, to PD, OM and eventually GM. She was 48.

Fowl Play: BNA's Kellie Pickler pulled one over on Brad Paisley during a recent tour stop in her home state of North Carolina. While Brad launched into an acoustic version of "Dixieland Delight," a coverall clad Kellie appeared onstage with live chickens and placed them at his feet. Watch hilarity ensue here.
