» Share Coppers: Here is the last group of Arbitron PPM ratings for October. All three of these markets are in their fourth month of Meter methodology. Figures are persons 6+, Monday-Sunday, 6am-midnight, with rankings in parentheses. From December 2-4, we'll report the November figures for all Country stations measured by PPM.
  • Denver: After a big September, Lincoln Financial's KYGO/Denver dipped slightly, 5.9-5.7 (3-3). However, its audience reach grew for the third month in a row, up 5,100 to 495,900 (10-8); both cume and cume rank are new PPM highs. For the first time, KYGO also attracted a 0.5 (34t) for its Internet stream. Wilks' KWOF shifted 2.2-2.1 (20-22), which was the same share it scored in July and August. The Wolf's cume was down 24,300 to 222,500 (19-21).
  • Baltimore: Clear Channel's WPOC was steady at a 7.6 (3-3), with its cume slipping 6,700 to 540,300 (4-4). Delmarva's WXCY/Wilmington, DE declined 1.5-1.1 (23t-26t), but added 14,300 listeners for a total of 129,600 (27-25).
  • Pittsburgh: CBS Radio's WDSY decreased 7.7-7.1 (3-3), matching its August figures. But 'DSY's audience bumped up 3,500 to 544,600 (6-6). Keymarket's three-station Country cluster performed as follows: WOGG stepped up 1.9-2.0 (17-16); cume grew 9,500 to 137,800 (18-17); both audience and cume rank are new PPM highs. WOGI moved 1.7-1.6 (18-17). Its listenership jumped 25,600 (+15%) to 196,300 (17-14), by far the most of the trio. 'OGI's share, cume and cume rank are new station peaks in PPM. WOGH slipped 1.2-1.0 (20-21t), but its reach rose 6,300 to 106,800 (21-19); those cume and rank figures are both new highs.

» Simon To Leave WKIS: Beasley's WKIS/Miami PD Ken Boesen is searching for his next morning co-host with the impending departure of Scott Simon. Boesen is seeking "an outstanding adult communicator" with two years in mornings, not necessarily Country. Airchecks and resumes here. Simon moved to mornings from afternoons in June to pair with then-new hire Matt Walker (CAT 6/24), who will remain in mornings following Simon's departure at the end of the month.

» Powers That Be: Lincoln Financial's KYGO/Denver parttimer Blake Powers will join Entercom's WDAF/Kansas City as AM driver Nov. 16. He replaces two-time CMA winners Darren Wilhite and Tim Wall, who helmed mornings for the last three years and had been a team for more than 20. Wilhite exited the station two weeks ago and is seeking his next opportunity; reach him at 734-634-7910 or here. Wall has moved to the station's sales department. Powers previously handled PM drive for Top 40 KONN/Denver and is the recipient of nine Colorado Broadcasting Assoc. Awards. MD Wes Poe is doing mornings until Powers' arrival.

» Top O' The Market To Ya: Cumulus' Country KQTP/Topeka, KS will become KTOP-FM Monday (11/9). "KTOP is a great call sign because it represents TOPeka," says SVP Spike Santee. "It may be old-fashioned, but I like having two stations paired up with the same call letters like [Sports] KTOP-AM and KTOP-FM." Music programming will remain the same.

» Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me? Capitol's Keith Urban has been added to the performance lineup for the 2009 American Music Awards. Along with Green Day, Rihanna, Shakira and Mary J. The AMAs air live Nov. 22 at 8pm ET on ABC-TV.

Bentley and Munley met during a meet-and-greet at his headlining July 4 Freedom Fest concert at the Army base, and a picture of them together has circulated widely in news reports of Munley's heroism. "Was able to speak to Sgt. Munley and pass along my prayers for a speedy recovery," Bentley tweeted today (11/6). "She's tough! And couldn't be more nice or humble. Real hero." According to the Washington Post, Munley was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition. Bentley will be on ABC News with Charles Gibson and ABC Nightline tonight.
