Lookin' For A Good Time: "We committed from day one to talk about everything so that eventually one little thing won't make you explode." That's Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott in today's (2/26) "How 3 Become 1: Lady Antebellum" panel at CRS 2015. When it comes to harmony, not only vocally but interpersonally and in operating a business together, Scott and partners Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood agree communication is key. They point to the animosity between members of Fleetwood Mac as an example of what not to do. "We've all seen that on Behind The Music, but we decided we're not gonna do that," said Haywood. "If we're gonna do this, it has to be where we love doing it, we love each other, we respect each other." Adds Scott, "Even when we don't see eye to eye we always come back to the truth that we love each other and there is something so much more special for us as a group than what we could do individually."

The trio touched on conflict resolution, too. "Everybody has different backgrounds in how they approach conflict and communication," said Kelley. "I tend to say what's on my mind. Dave soaks up everything and after everybody says their peace, he says something clever. Hillary's somewhere in the middle. If you're working as a team, everybody has a different process. Let people be who they are."

The group says what they've learned can apply to any business or group dynamic. "In any work situation there are parts of you that you have to temper down every now and then," said Scott. "You don't want continuous flare-ups. You have to be together a lot. Do you wan to be right or be happy?"
