Challenge Accepted: "We’re on the hunt right now for personalities, including a morning show that will be fun, local and informative." That's Scripps/Milwaukee VP/GM Tom Langmyer on the company's new addition to the format. As reported earlier via Breaking News, Twitter and Facebook, Scripps Adult Hits WLWK flipped to Country as WKTI this morning (5/29). Langmyer is handling programming until a PD can be hired. Resumes and airchecks for all positions to him here.

Ranked 11th in the April 2015 PPM with a 6+ 3.3 as WLWK, the new station is up against iHeartMedia market leader WMIL's 10.5, according to Nielsen Audio. In the last five years, Saga Classic Country WZBK, then-Clear Channel Classic Country WOKY-AM and Kettle Moraine Classic Country WTKM-AM have tried unsuccessfully to take a piece of the format pie from 'MIL, the latter two ranking 29th and 25th, respectively, in their last book – October 2013. The last mainstream Country attempt was NextMedia WEXT, which flipped out of the format in 2005 after being sold. See WMIL PD Kerry Wolfe's comment that the other stations "know what an expensive project it would be to take us on" in our full coverage of WMIL and the market (CAW 11/3).
