Chronicle: Our condolences to the family and friends of Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame member Buddy Emmons, who died yesterday (7/29) at the age of 78. Emmons, known as The Big E, moved to Nashville as a teen and joined Little Jimmy Dickens' band in 1955. One year later he and fellow guitarist Shot Jackson formed the Sho-Bud company to design and build steel guitars. Emmons later toured with Ernest Tubb, Ray Price and the Everly Brothers, among others. In the '60s and '70s he became one of the top studio musicians in Los Angeles and Nashville. He played on albums by George Strait, Linda Ronstadt, Willie Nelson, Gene Watson and Ricky Skaggs, among others. Arrangements are pending.
