Jeff Walker Remembered: "I believe in country music, which has been very good to me and my family. [And] I believe in giving back to the industry." That's the late Jeff Walker encapsulating a core truth of his life in an interview that preceded his being honored with the CRB President's Award in June. Country Aircheck shares in the grief and loss experienced by so many at news of his passing yesterday (8/24) shortly after returning from a family vacation. He was 66.

Giving back was more than platitude to Walker, who served country music and Country radio in ways big and small for more than 40 years. Beyond his efforts with his company AristoMedia and decades of service on the CMA and CRB boards, Jeff was ever present with a warm smile, a kind word, a silly pun or thoughtful insight as he touched the lives of countless individuals over the course of his career. If some solace is to be taken, it is in the CRB's decision to waive the customary exclusion for sitting board members and honor him this year. "It's really special to know the people around you recognize and appreciate you," he said. We did and we do. Godspeed, Jeff. We miss you already. So much.
