The Flip Side: Virden has agreed to purchase the six-station Prestige/Macomb, IL cluster, which includes Country WLMD. The sale is pending FCC approval, but Virden took over operations Aug. 1 and will now realign the stations. WLMD will flip to News tomorrow (8/26), while sister Modern Rock WNLF will flip to Country as "Backroad Country." Recent Western Illinois University grad Tony Jones joins in mornings, while Nash Nights Live and Kickin' It With Kix will be added in nights and overnights, respectively. OM/PD Kim Williams tells Country Aircheck it's undecided yet whether middays and afternoons will be filled locally. WLMD air staffers Rick Bulgur, Dakota Summers, Brian Douglas and Jenny Daniels will remain with the cluster on other stations. Reach Williams here.
