Chronicle: Our condolences to the family and friends of singer/songwriter/musician/producer Freddy Powers, who died Tuesday (6/21) from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was 84. In addition to touring with Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, Powers also wrote Haggard classics including "A Place To Fall Apart," "Let's Chase Each Other Around The Room" and "Natural High." He wrote George Jones' "I Always Get Lucky With You" and produced Nelson's album Somewhere Over The Rainbow. A GoFundMe account has been set up for funeral arrangements and final medical expenses here.
Our condolences also to the family and friends of manager/producer/songwriter/publisher Bill Ham, who died in his sleep Monday (6/20) at age 79. In addition to discovering and (formerly) managing Clint Black, Ham was the longtime manager and producer of ZZ Top and creator of publishing company Hamstein Music. Most recently, Ham had launched Wolftracks Music Publishing Company and signed writers Presley Tucker and Spencer Bartoletti (a.k.a. Reverie Lane), who are also signed to Ham's Lone Wolf Management.
