Shake And Blake: Warner Bros./WMN's Blake Shelton played a free, surprise show for 2,500 people at a club just outside of Kansas City last night (7/27) following the example he set in Birmingham in January (CAW 2/1). "Hey Kansas City. You! Tonight!," Shelton revealed on Twitter yesterday morning with venue details. "First come, first serve!"

"He went on about 9pm and played for two hours," says KBEQ PD Mike Kennedy. "The most interesting part is that he still makes time for his radio friends. It's both humbling and amazing." As for the show, "He opened up with 'Neon Light' and really got into the vibe," notes WDAF MD Codie Allen. "He went on about how much he loved doing these little honky tonks. It was just an amazing night." Shelton was in town to promote his partnership with Smithworks Vodka. Local coverage via The Kansas City Star here. Shelton is doing another surprise show in Denver tonight, for which KWOF (The Wolf) changed its name to "The Blake." There's even a song. Listen here.
