Big Texas Hearts: The Texas Association of Broadcasters are honoring Cox Media Group/Houston, which includes Country KKBQ and Classic Country KTHT, and West Texas KHKX/Odessa-Midland with the Bonner McLane Public Service Award. The recipients are recognized for outstanding contributions and service to their local communities. "I don't know of another industry that consistently does more for their communities than local broadcasters," says Cox/Houston VP/MM Mark Krieschen. The group raised $655,329 for Texas Children's Hospital during a two-day broadcast. KHKX VP/GM John Moesch tells Country Aircheck, "Our morning show Big Zak and Beth love supporting and promoting the H.O.T. [Honor Our Troops] program as it provides a bright spot in the lives of those fight for our freedom. We are very humbled." The awards will be presented at the TAB Convention August 10 in Austin.
