Chronicle: Music industry vet Hazel Smith died last night (3/18) in Madison, TN after a battle with dementia. She was 83. Smith's decades-long career titles included journalist, publicist, radio and TV personality, songwriter and cookbook author. She is credited with coining the phrase "Outlaw Music" during her early 1970s tenure as a publicist at the Glaser Brothers' "Hillbilly Central" office on Music Row. Arrangements are pending, with a service planned at Madison Funeral Home (219 E Old Hickory Blvd, Madison, TN 37115) and burial in Camp Springs, NC. More on Smith here.
