St. John's Beach: Big River WXFL/Florence, AL midday personality Sherry St. John retired today (3/15) after a 43-year career that includes stops at KULF & KKBQ/Houston and WHBQ/Memphis. St. John helped launch WXFL in June 1995. "Radio and I grew up together," says St. John. "From grease pencils and splicing blocks to digital editing, scratchy vinyl 45s to downloads. Radio and I have learned a lot together, and I probably wouldn't be retiring now, but my favorite headphones broke yesterday. I took it as a sign." St. John will continue with WXFL, voice tracking middays for the foreseeable future according to OM/PD Fletcher Brown. Reach her here.
