Chronicle: National Radio Hall of Famer and Westwood One and PodcastOne Founder Norm Pattiz passed away at the age of 79. Pattiz worked in the sales department of KCOP-TV/Los Angeles in the early 1970s before founding the original iteration of Westwood One in 1976. WW1 went public in 1984 and ultimately owned Radio & Records, prior to its acquisition, and Mutual Broadcasting. Pattiz served as Chairman until stepping down in 2010 (CAT 8/30/10), and WW1 merged into Dial Global in 2011 before reassuming the WW1 moniker when Cumulus Media bought Dial Global in 2013. In 2012, Pattiz founded Launchpad, which became PodcastOne in 2013; the company was sold to then-LiveXLive in 2020. Pattiz is a 2009 inductee to the National Radio Hall of Fame and also received the Giants Of Broadcasting Award from the Library of American Broadcasting. No word on services.
