Black River's Baumgartner Resigns: Black River VP/Promotion Rick Baumgartner will step down tomorrow from the post he's held for the past four-and-a-half years because of non-life-threatening health issues. Baumgartner has suffered from glaucoma for a number of years and will have surgery Aug. 8 to reduce the pressure in his left eye, hopefully extending the sight in that eye for a few years. He has already lost use of his right eye due to the disease. The 23-year record vet tells Country Aircheck this does not mean retirement, and he hopes to find another industry post in the near future. Black River GM Greg McCarn says, "All of us at Black River have a tremendous amount of affection for Rick and hate to see him leave. Our prayers are with him for a successful surgery." McCarn is searching for Baumgartner's successor and accepting resumes here.
