Yeah, I'm The Tax Man: Veteran music executive John Grady will helm the new record label I.R.S. Nashville, formed in conjunction with Caroline, the independent services division of Capitol Music Group. "If we happen to sign and develop an artist that needs to be on mainstream Country radio, the initial plan will be to hire an independent and work it that way," Grady tells Country Aircheck. "Most of the labels I've seen start up over the last 10 years have bought a building, hired a staff and done all sorts of things before signing artists and making records. I'm going to try doing it the opposite way. We've been developing some stuff for a long time and instead of taking it to another label and giving it to them, we want to do it ourselves."

I.R.S. Nashville's roster includes duo Striking Matches, who have placed several songs in the show Nashville and appeared on the Grand Ole Opry 22 times, but have yet to release a song to radio. A posthumous release from Cowboy Jack Clement is also planned. Grady will continue in his role at Crush Management, where he represents Ashley Monroe, Kristen Kelly and Striking Matches. His background also includes helming Sony/Nashville and a long tenure with Mercury. I.R.S. Nashville offices, staff and contact info will be coming soon. Until then, reach Grady here.
