Harbor Day: As reported earlier via Twitter and FacebookCBS Radio will launch "New Country on 106.1" in Baltimore Friday, Oct. 25 at noon. Operating under the WLIF-HD2 calls, the station will be available on-air via a translator, on the web, for mobile through Radio.com and at 101.9 HD2. An agreement between CBS Radio and Hope Christian, which owns the 106.1 frequency, made the launch possible. The station is being programmed by cluster VPP Dave Labrozzi. Air staff include AC WLIF afternooner Fast Jimi in mornings, Hot AC WWMX afternoon co-host Jenn Marino in middays, and cluster jocks Steve Mann and Scott Davies taking afternoons and nights, respectively.

"We're excited to help put 'New Country on 106.1' on the air and round out our diverse range of programming in Charm City," says SVP/MM Robert Philips. "Country radio today has a broad-based audience, including more listeners and younger listeners than ever before. Its cross-over popularity is at an all-time high, and country fans here in Baltimore are extremely passionate." The new station, which will cover the city's urban core with 250 watts of power at 896 feet, seems aimed at draining a portion of listening from Clear Channel's WPOC, which has ranked No. 1 in the market three months in a row (CAT 10/1).
