Cook Cumulus/Nashville OM, WKDF & WSM-FM PD:
West Virginia Radio Dir./Programming & Brand Management and McVay/Cook & Assoc. President Charlie Cook has been named Cumulus/Nashville OM and PD of Country WKDF and WSM-FM. He started this afternoon and will also oversee the company's Sports WGFX (The Zone), Urban WQQK (92Q) and Talk (SuperTalk 99.7) WWTN. He reports to Cumulus Sr. VP/Corporate Programming Mike McVay, who will now oversee Cumulus' Music City cluster. Cook succeeds Dan Bowen in the OM/WSM-FM PD posts and takes the WKDF programming reins from PD/morning personality Marty McFly, who will continue in mornings. Bowen exits after almost three years with the company.
This marks Cook's return to Cumulus, where he served as VP/Country Programming from 2006-08. "I'm thrilled to welcome Charlie back to Cumulus at such an exciting time for the company," says EVP & Co-COO John Dickey. "I am confident his vast radio industry experience will contribute greatly to the success of the growing Nashville market."
"With all of the new and exciting things Cumulus is launching in conjunction with the Nash brand, I am thrilled to rejoin the company," Cook says. "Being based in Nashville, in the middle of all of this, is an incredible opportunity. Cumulus has an unbelievable cluster here and I am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and working with the team to reach new heights."
Cook joined WVR three years ago. His background includes stints as KKGO/Los Angeles PD and VP/Programming for Westwood One. Reach him here.
