Stacey To Head BMLG & Republic's Dot:
Former Warner Music Nashville SVP/Promotion Chris Stacey will head Dot Records, a joint venture between Big Machine Label Group and Republic. The Dot name recalls a multi-genre imprint that was active in the '50s, '60s and '70s; the two parent companies are already partners in Republic Nashville. The long rumored fourth imprint under the BMLG badge was confirmed in this morning's New York Times, though artists have not been revealed. “As Nashville has firmly established itself as a world music center, this will give us the opportunity to continue aggressively in the country space, but also gives us a lot of available lanes to do pretty much whatever we want.” BMLG President/CEO Scott Borchetta tells the Times. Prior to joining Dot, Stacey spent nearly four years with Warner Music Nashville before leaving last month (CAT 2/4). Other stops include Mercury, UMG/Nashville, Vector Management and his own Hurricane Interactive Promotions.
