Why Leave, Coyote?
Clear Channel WAMZ/Louisville PD/afternoon personality Coyote Calhoun will retire at the end of the year after nearly 35 years as the station's only PD. In 2015 he will serve as the station's community ambassador, appearing at events including the Kentucky State Fair and WAMZ's St. Jude radiothon. "I have loved every minute at 97.5 WAMZ, especially spending time with the thousands of listeners I've met over the years," says Calhoun. "My health is great, and now is the time to go out, travel and have some fun. I'd like to thank the country fans of 'Kentuckiana' for all their friendship and support." RPM Kelly Carls says with so much lead time, there's no rush to begin recruiting for a replacement. "WAMZ hasn't hired a new Program Director for 35 years," he says. "So, we want to take the time to do it right." Reach Calhoun here.
