Bruce Springs Free: Mercury Dir./Southeast Promotion Bruce Shindler will retire at the end of the year after more than four decades in promotion, the past 10 years with UMG/Nashville. "I made a decision a while ago that there are other interests in my life I would love to pursue after 41 great years in record promotion," he says. "The time has arrived to spend more time with my family and to pursue a license in alcohol and drug counseling." Shindler's storied history began in 1972 at Associated Distributors in Phoenix, and includes stops at Buddah Records, Elektra/Asylum, Infinity, MTM, RCA, DreamWorks and his own Shindler-Turner Promotions. RPME VP/Radio Relations Jack Christopher will take his place, working alongside Shindler beginning today (9/30). "While we will miss Bruce tremendously, we could not be more pleased with the person we have hired to fill his shoes," says UMGN SVP/Promotion Royce Risser. "Jack Christopher is a first round draft pick for sure … an absolute killer promo vet who has never lost his passion or his drive to win." Reach him here.
