Chronicle: Condolences are extended to family and friends of Shane Media CEO Ed Shane, who died Saturday (3/21) after a brief battle with colon cancer. "Ed Shane loved music, creative people and radio," says wife and business partner Pam Shane. "He devoted his life and his career to all three, and it was a good mix." Shane's radio background included programming stops in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago before moving into management in Houston. Along with many contributions to News/Talk, Shane's impact in Country included launching KFRG/San Bernardino in 1989 and WGGY/Wilkes-Barre and WOGY/Memphis in the '90s. In 2000, Shane launched the Texas Music Chart, followed by Best in Texas Music magazine. He was also the author of several books including Programming Dynamics: Radio's Management Guide. See a slideshow of Shane's life here. Reach Pam Shane here. Services are pending.

Our thoughts are also with those grieving the passing of KKAJ/Ardmore, OK PD/morning host Win Patton, who died today (3/23). He was 48. Patton reportedly had been battling colon cancer diagnosed earlier this year. The station has posted a tribute message here.

Condolences are also extended to those mourning the loss of Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Don Robertson, 92, who died in California March 16. Robertson wrote classics including "I Really Don't Want To Know" (Eddy Arnold, Les Paul & Mary Ford, Elvis Presley), "I Don't Hurt Anymore" (Hank Snow, Dinah Washington) and "Please Help Me I'm Falling" (Hank Locklin).

Sympathies also go out to family and friends of veteran music executive Al Bunetta, who passed Sunday (3/22) in Nashville. The proprietor of Oh Boy Records, Al Bunetta Management and Blue Plate Music, Bunetta enjoyed a long association with John Prine. Services are pending; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juri Bunetta Friendship Foundation.
