Pattiz Steps Down At WW1: After founding Westwood One more than 30 years ago, Chairman Norm Pattiz is retiring from the board of directors to serve as a Chairman Emeritus and consultant to the organization. His successor is Gores Group Sr. Managing Director Mark Stone; Gores Group holds a controlling interest in WW1 and recently announced an infusion of $20 million in additional equity.

Of the move, Pattiz says, "This allows me to play an active role, working with people I admire and respect, while continuing the other activities that are very important to me." A National Radio Hall of Fame inductee last year, Pattiz serves as Chairman of the Dept. of Energy's Los Alamos and Laurence Livermore National Security Laboratories, and as a Regent of the University of California. Stone comments, "My mandate is to drive customer-oriented initiatives that will further strengthen Westwood One's leading market position. We are fortunate to have Norm's continuing expertise as we build the company's future." Added President Rod Sherwood, "Norm's programming experience, extensive contacts and customer-focused insights are extremely valuable to the company, and I look forward to continuing our partnership."
