Carpenter Leaves Mornings: Longtime CBS Radio WYCD/Detroit morning host and Country Radio Hall of Famer Dr. Don Carpenter is leaving the show at the end of this week, though he will remain with the station for select projects. "As many people know, I have my own business and have been looking to write a couple books," he says. "CBS Radio has come up with an incredible deal that'll let me spend more time doing that while still being part of the WYCD family. I'm not resigning and I'm definitely not retiring. In fact, I will be around for special broadcasts and you'll hear me on commercials for the companies I have endorsement deals with. I just won't be on the air every morning. I want to thank CBS Radio and all of you for having faith in me. This is not goodbye. It's more like 'see you around.'"
SVP/Market Manager Debbie Kenyon adds, "We thank Dr. Don for all the wonderful things he's done for the Detroit community and the professional broadcaster he's been over the years. Doc has entertained and created many laughs for our WYCD listeners. His relationship with the country artists, fun loving spirit and dedication to our community made his show fun to listen to every morning." Carpenter joined 'YCD in 1993 and has hosted mornings for the last 10 years. He was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2013 and can be reached here. News on the next WYCD morning show is expected this week, including plans for Carpenter's co-hosts Rachael Hunter, Steve Grunwald and Jason Raithel. They will remain with the station.
