Legend Airing: Nashville's fifth Country station will run commercial free and jockless for the time being, but iHeartMedia RSVP/Programming & iHeartCountry Brand Mgr. Rod Phillips tells Country Aircheck there will likely be an air staff "after a significant amount of time without." As reported Friday (9/2) via CountryAircheck.com, Facebook and Twitter, the company flipped Alternative WNRQ-HD2 & translator W252CM to Classic Country as "The Big Legend at 98.3." The station's legends include Alabama, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire and Travis Tritt, presumably moving it into some level of competition with crosstown Cumulus WSM-FM (Nash Icon). Other Country signals in the market include sister WSIX, Cumulus' WKDF (Nash FM) and Ryman Hospitality Classic Country WSM-AM. Listen here.
