Chronicle: Our condolences to the family and friends of Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member Jean Shepard, who died yesterday (BN 9/25) at age 82. Shepard was the longest-running Opry member and celebrated her 60th anniversary with the show last year. Her last Opry appearance was Nov. 15, 2015. Shepard's signature songs included the Ferlin Husky duet "A Dear John Letter," "A Satisfied Mind," "Second Fiddle (To An Old Guitar)" and "Slippin' Away."

"The Opry family is truly saddened by the news of Jean's passing," said Opry VP/GM Pete Fisher. "Although we will miss Jean's presence on the Opry stage, she has left us the wonderful gift of her music which will be remembered for generations to come."

Arrangements are pending.
