Labels Mate:
"This wasn't about coming in, dismantling BBR Music Group and putting it back together in our own image," BMG/US President/Repertoire & Marketing Zach Katz tells Country Aircheck. His company's acquisition of the Nashville label group (Breaking News) instead gives Germany-based BMG a "foundation" in Nashville. BBRMG EVP Jon Loba says selling is something Founder Benny Brown "wouldn't do unless it was with a company whose values align with ours in putting artists and staff first."
As reported earlier, the deal gives BMG imprints Broken Bow, Red Bow, Stoney Creek and Wheelhouse as well as publishing company Magic Mustang Music. The entire 48-person BBRMG staff remains under Loba, with Brown and CFO Paul Brown consulting. Get the inside story of how the deal came together and the vision for the future from Katz and Loba in tonight's Country Aircheck Weekly.
