Chronicle: A sad weekend for the country industry with Friday's passing of veteran promotion executive Eddie Mascolo, whose arrangements (below) are now complete, and Sunday's passing of WQDR/Raleigh's Lisa McKay Blake. WQDR's website shared the news of her passing "surrounded by family, following a very short battle with cancer." Arrangements are incomplete, but the station has asked for donations to local animal shelters she supported including Wake County SPCASaving Grace and Durham APS.

Blake spent almost 12 years with Clear Channel and five years as a Realtor before joining Curtis Media in 2002. In addition to programming and hosting middays on WQDR, she was named VP/Programming in January 2014.

Over almost 50 years in the record business, Mascolo headed the promotion departments at RCA/New York and at Nashville labels RCA, Mercury, and Platinum. Along the way he ran a Nashville division for independent record promoter Jeff McCluskey and, in 1999, became one of the first promotion execs in the artist management business, joining Starstruck Entertainment. He went on to work for Turner Nichols and most recently Trey Turner Management with artists including Rascal Flatts and Easton Corbin.

Visitation for Mascolo will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 535 Sneed Rd. W., Franklin, TN 37069, 4-7pm Tuesday (1/16) and 9:30-11am Wednesday with funeral mass to follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
