James Down: Midwest/Evansville OM Rusty James has joined Max Media/Norfolk as VP/Operations & Programming, responsibilities that include oversight of Country WGH. The position has been vacant since John Shomby's departure for Cumulus two years ago (CAT 2/1/16). James leaves Midwest after more than 13 years; the opening was posted yesterday. "I certainly didn't anticipate leaving WIKY and my Midwest Communications family," he says. "However, I met Keith Barton and I realized this opportunity was just too good to pass up. I look forward to working with the team in Virginia Beach to continue to grow their great radio stations." He starts July 9.
