Virtual Reality: Cox WWKA/Orlando PD Steve Stewart and MD Ashley Stegbauer are providing listeners the opportunity to tune in for a "virtual" Country Thunder Festival March 27-28 from 7-11pm ET. The live event – with headliners Eric Church, Kane Brown and Dierks Bentley – has been rescheduled due to coronavirus (COVID-19) (CAT 3/16), but WWKA is bringing live concert audio directly to fans in the meantime. Stewart tells Country Aircheck audio will include live cuts from previous events and live albums in addition to audio he has accessed from his affiliation with nationally syndicated The Road. WWKA personalities will also host live streams during the concert, and station social media pages will feature replays of video interviews with Country Thunder artists taken at previous events. "Think of this as a fun way for us to still deliver a festival experience to those listeners who were planning to go this weekend," says Stewart. "This is all theater of the mind. We are recreating an event so people can grab a cold one, close their eyes and escape for a little while." Country Thunder organizers are on board and will be pushing out information about the virtual experience, as well. More here.
