Cumulus Begins Furloughs:
No one is commenting via official channels, but Cumulus has reportedly become the most recent to institute company-wide furloughs amid the growing economic impact concerns surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19). Pres./CEO Mary Berner implemented a plan that includes salaried employees taking three weeks of unpaid leave in one-week installments across a 15-week period beginning April 20. Additional employees in departments or positions that cannot be covered by someone else will take a pay cut for 90 days while remaining in their jobs; a second group whose job functions and responsibilities have been reduced or eliminated as a result of coronavirus impacts will be put on a 90-day furlough as of April 16. Additionally, the Cumulus leadership team will take a 25% salary cut and forego all incentive compensation for the year.
