Moving Mountains: Seven Mountains Media will acquire Sound Communications' 10 stations in the Elmira and Olean, NY markets in what Seven Mountains CEO Jim Loftus calls a "complicated and interesting" purchase. It's the company's second acquistion in the markets in the past two years (CAT 1/11/19) and will require the divestment of five stations, which will be swapped to religious operator Family Life Ministries in exchange for Family Life's WCIG/Dallas, PA. WCIG will be Seven Mountains' first station in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA market. In Elmira, Sound Country WKPQ/Hornell will be added to Seven Mountain's existing cluster, which includes the "Bigfoot Country" trimulcast of WCBF/WOBF/WQBF. In Olean, Sound Country WOEN-AM will join Seven Mountain's Country WPIG. WZKZ/Alfred, NY currently simulcasts WOEN-AM and will be one of the five stations swapped to Family Life. No word on the implications of resulting format overlaps created by this acquistion.
