WQDR's Carothers To Step Down:
Curtis WQDR/Raleigh Q Morning Crew co-host Janie Carothers is stepping down after nearly 15 years to pursue an opportunity outside of radio and spend more time with her family. She will continue in a part-time capacity doing weekend shifts. “It’s so bittersweet, and I am grateful that ‘QDR is supporting my decision to step away from mornings while still letting me be involved on a part-time basis,” says Carothers. She joined in 2006 as the winner of the WQDR Casting Call where, as a listener, she competed for a spot alongside incumbent host Mike Wheless and then-cohosts Mike Raley and Marty Young. See Carothers’ complete announcement here, and reach her here through March 26.
Wheless remains in mornings, and the search is on for a successor to join him. APD/MD/midday personality Heather Davis will fill-in on an interim basis. PD Mike Biddle is looking for someone with three or more years of radio experience, a track record of success and who works well with others. “If you’re constantly creating, a great storyteller, a social media junkie, like to take risks and most importantly, have fun, then you need to apply today,” says Biddle. See the complete job posting here; send résumés, production samples, social media links, references and airchecks to Biddle here.
