Retire Meant: Cohan WWOJ/Sebring, FL morning host John Meder of Meder In The Morning will retire April 1 on his 85th birthday. “John Meder has become a legend in this town, and it’s been a privilege working with him,” says Pres./GM Michael Ewing. The date is likely no coincidence, as the WWOJ website dubs Meder “Mr. April Fool’s Day;” both Meder and his son Mark were born on April 1. Meder joined WWOJ in 1986 after time in Hastings, MI; Detroit; Tampa; and West Palm Beach, FL. In total, his radio career spans 62 years. Stream Meder's final show here Thursday morning and send congratulations and best wishes here.
At WWOJ, midday personality Donnie Shaffer will move to mornings succeeding Meder; fill-in host Bethany Fountain will take the reins in middays. Shaffer, a local singer/songwriter, has been with the station since 2018 and can be reached here. Fountain joined last year and can be reached here.
