Chronicle:
Radio programmer and consultant Joe Patrick (Kobessen) passed away last weekend at the age of 74. A Florida native and Navy vet, Patrick's early career included stops at WGTO/Cypress Gardens, FL; WVOJ/Jacksonville; and WGMA/Fort Lauderdale. In 1977, he was named PD of WQYK/Tampa and took the station from 14th to second in less than two years. In 1980, he flipped WNOE/New Orleans from Rock to Country. Patrick moved into the consulting realm in 1985, first with Drake Chenault and then with his own Patrick Broadcast Consulting. He launched Tunecom in 1999 to provide listener research directly to record labels, later selling it to Countrytune.com. No services are planned.
