Chronicle: Manager, agent and promoter Randy Jackson passed away Dec. 21 in Alpine, TX. He was 75. Jackson worked as a tour consultant with Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, and was road manager for Johnny Rodriguez. He later helped establish Charley Pride's Chardon booking and management agency. There, Jackson discovered Neal McCoy and Janie Fricke. The latter of whom he eventually married and managed. After their divorce, Jackson returned to his alma mater, Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX, where he became active in supporting the school's athletic programs and last year was named the first ever Mr. Sul Ross. The school's new football field house, set to open later this year, will be named for him. Local coverage here.
