Chronicle:
Programmer/producer/syndicator Ron Huntsman passed away July 2 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 78. Hunstman got his start working for Armed Forces Radio while stationed in the Azores. Upon returning to the states he made stops in Denver, Kansas City and Wichita before moving to Nashville in 1971 as PD for then-Country WKDA-AM & Rock WKDA (now WKDF). In 1973 he founded Ron Huntsman Productions before joining promotion and publicity firm Sound Seventy two years later. In 1988, he launched Ron Huntsman Entertainment with his wife, Vivian. The company produced Country HitMakers, more than 160 artist and album release specials, ACM and CMA event week broadcasts, as well as the annual Christmas On Music Row through its closure in 2017. No word on services.
