Chronicle: Georgia Association of Broadcaster Hall of Famer Byron Lamar Dobbs passed away today (7/28) at the age of 86. Shortly after graduating high school in 1957, Dobbs began his 65-year-long radio career at Cherokee Country WCHK-AM/Canton, GA. After 40 years at the station, and 35 as Station Mgr., Dobbs segued to Tri-State Communications/Jasper, GA in 1998 where he served as partner/owner of the group that includes Classic Country WLJA/Ellijay, GA until last year. Visitation is tomorrow (7/29) 4-8pm ET and Saturday (7/30) 2-7pm ET at Sosebee Funeral Home (191 Jarvis Street, Canton, GA 30114). Funeral services will be held Sunday (7/31) at Sosebee at 3pm ET.
