Life Note: Mississippi Broadcasters Country WOKK/Meridian, MS morning host Ken Stokes (a.k.a. The Kenman) was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer after a trip to the ER Aug. 2. As Stokes does not have immediate family, his morning co-host Cara Shirley is moving him to her property to live with her family while he receives hospice care. “I put out a call to our community to donate items for a raffle to raise money for Ken, and within a week, I’ve received promises of more than $4,000 worth of product,” Shirley tells Country Aircheck. “One advertiser is donating a tiny home valued at $15,000, and another is donating all the flooring and installation of the flooring.” Stokes has been on-air in the market since 1983; Shirley has launched a Facebook community for health updates and shared support here and is accepting donations on Stokes' behalf via PayPal and Venmo @KenmanStrong.
