Gone And Dungan: As reported via Breaking News last night (1/9), UMG/Nashville Chairman/CEO Mike Dungan plans to retire in March after more than a decade in the post but will continue to serve as an advisor to UMG Chairman/CEO Sir Lucian Grainge. “[Mike] has had an incredible impact on the careers and well-being of so many in Nashville through the years – from artists to employees,” says Grainge. “After a brilliant four decades in Nashville, and with our team well-positioned for continued strength, Mike is making an admirable and well-deserved life change. And, while he won’t be serving in his CEO capacity, I’ve asked him to continue to contribute to areas that we’re both passionate about – breaking genre barriers and delivering critical support to artists past and present.” Dungan joined in 2012 (Breaking News 2/23/12) from then-Capitol/Nashville, prior to the two groups merging (CAT 10/26/12). He did Pop promotion for RCA Records from 1979-1987 and handled Sales at BMG Distribution for two years before joining start-up Arista/Nashville as GM in 1989 where he remained until 2000.
