Weatherford Any Storm:
Weatherford College Classic Country/Classic Rock KMQX (88.5 The Coyote)/Weatherford, TX has officially signed on and is broadcasting from the Nan And Bob Kingsley Building that formerly housed the late Country Radio Hall of Famer’s Bluestem Studios, which opened in 2021 (CAT 12/15/21). Broadcast veteran Dave Cowley, who hosted mornings under KMQX’s previous ownership and format, serves as GM and tells Country Aircheck, “We are live and online, both streaming via the station website and an app. We are just starting out but are already seeing 18,000 listeners per week.” He says the hit-driven music mix consists of Jackson Browne, Alabama, The Eagles, Garth Brooks and George Strait. The college purchased the call letters, including translator K273CP/Mineral Wells, TX, last year for $500,000 and is rebuilding the station from the ground up. Cowley notes Weatherford College is in the process of building out a complete mass communications department, and the station will be used to train students for broadcast careers.
