Friedman Named MCA VP/Promotion: UMG/Nashville VP/National Promotion David Friedman has been named MCA VP/Promotion after more than seven years with the label group. He succeeds Katie Dean, who is leaving for a yet-to-be-announced opportunity. Concurrently, MCA Dir./Northeast Promotion Miranda McDonald rises to fill the vacancy created by Friedman's promotion. “Having David move to run MCA’s promo department is one of the easiest decisions I’ve made in a long time,” says UMGN EVP/Promotion Royce Risser. “He has been ready for this position for years, and I have been selfishly keeping him in his former role because I loved having him there." Adds Friedman, "Like Lynyrd Skynyrd once said, I’m ‘Workin’ For MCA!’ I’m beyond excited to transition within the UMGN family to the MCA promotion team and look forward to working alongside these flamethrowers in breaking new artists and growing the careers of this phenomenal roster." Friedman also succeeded Dean in 2015 when he joined UMGN from Sony/Nashville (CAT 8/20/15) where he served as Columbia Dir./National Field Promotion. Prior to his 15 years with the Sony staff, Friedman spent nearly a year with Captiol/Nashville. Reach him here. McDonald joined MCA in 2012 after stops at Valory and CMT Radio and rose to her most recent position last year (CAT 3/24/22); reach McDonald here.
