Chronicle: Our condolences are extended to the family and friends of Country Radio Hall of Famer Ramblin' Lou Schriver, who died Sunday (1/17) at age 86 after battling heart problems. Schriver was a musician and Classic Country WXRL-AM/Lancaster-Buffalo, NY owner/host. He got his start in radio in 1947 at WJJL-AM/Niagra Falls, NY. Schriver bought then-WMMJ/Lancaster went on the market in 1970, changing its call letters to WXRL. In 1985 he was inducted into the Country Radio Hall Of Fame. He was a member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame and a lifetime member of the Country Music Association. A funeral service will be held Friday (1/22) at Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan St., Tonawana, NY. More info here.
Our sympathies also go out to the family and friends of VP/Erv Woolsey Company Danny O'Brian, who died Sunday (1/17) in Nashville at age 73. O'Brian was George Strait's longtime agent and had been with the company since 1985. Visitation will be Thursday (1/21) 4-8pm at Hendersonville Memory Gardens in Hendersonville, TN, with a memorial service at the same location Friday (1/22) at 11am.
Finally, our condolences to the family and friends of guitarist/composer Pete Huttlinger, who died Friday (1/15) following a stroke at age 54. Huttlinger was best known as the late John Denver's lead guitar player and had also toured with LeAnn Rimes and Hall & Oates' John Oates. In 2015 Huttlinger, together with his wife and manager, Nashville publicist Erin Morris, released a memoir about Huttlinger's lifelong physical battle against a rare heart defect (CAW 10/5/15). A Go Fund Me account has been set up by a family friend here to cover any leftover medical expenses. Arrangements are pending and Morris says a Celebration of Life will take place in Nashville later this year.
