Above Parr: In light of his upcoming departure from Backstage Country (see story above), Shawn Parr tells Country Aircheck his decision to step away is business related, but hints he's not done with radio just yet. While praising his partners at Key Networks and Beasley Media Group, Parr says the show didn't offer enough of a return on investment relative to the time invested. He remains busy with television and voiceover work, and hosting charity and corporate events. "As we all know, radio isn't the most lucrative business in the world right now, and when we put this show together we had bigger plans financially," he says. "It just hasn't come to fruition [so] it was time for me to make a decision on quality or quantity. I've never been busier doing philanthropy. We did 54 events across 16 states in 2023, and raised over $30 million." As for the future, he says, "I've already had some opportunities come across my desk, but I promised my wife I'd take a minute before I made any decisions."
