Masters Of The Univers(al): Saying, "I am humbled to have been asked by [UMG Chairman/CEO] Sir Lucian [Grainge] to lead UMG/Nashville at such an important and exciting time in country music," Mike Harris has stepped into the role of CEO for the company's Music City division, as reported via Breaking News last night (2/6). Concurrently, producer Dave Cobb was named Chief Creative Officer. The moves follow yesterday's departure of Chair & CEO Cindy Mabe (Breaking News 2/6). Harris had been EVP/COO at UMG/Nashville, where he worked for eight years until his departure last fall (CAT 9/4/24), and previously spent 15 years with EMI and its Caroline division. Cobb, whose extensive production credits (which include Chris Stapleton's Traveller) have earned him nine Grammy awards, says of his new role, "I’m here to honor the past, and look to the future.”
