CRS Panel: CMA's Teen Study
The Why In Teen: The CMA-commissioned "Teen Music Listener" study – one of an unprecedented three research offerings during CRS – explored younger demo attitudes toward music and how they experience it. Much of the opportunity for connecting with teens centers on the human experience. "They want the freedom of choice even in this algorithm driven environment," said CMA's LeighAnn Rodd while presenting the data. CMA surveyed 1,000 people, ages 13-19, last spring and found 88% are listening to music daily. Social media is the primary discovery tool (59%), with friends and family in second (47%). To Rodd's point, 66% of teens listen to a personal playlist when streaming, and one in five listens to country music daily. More coverage in tomorrow's CRS Daily Buzz.
