Bits & Pieces: Hubbard WIRK/West Palm Beach morning duo Tim Leary and Chelsea Taylor helped grant a wish for listener Jennifer, a 46-year-old mother of two who is in home-hospice with Stage 4 brain cancer. Jennifer’s friend, Kathleen, emailed Leary and Taylor to share that Jennifer’s last wish was to meet firefighters. The morning team spent a week on-air soliciting area firefighters to join them in helping fulfill Jennifer’s wish. “You never know what you’re going to end up with until you get on site, but you pray for the best,” Leary tells Country Aircheck.

Upon arrival at the meeting spot near Jennifer’s home, more than 30 firefighters from across South Florida had gathered. Additionally, one firefighter from Hyde Park in New York City arrived, saying, “I heard you guys talking about it on the radio, and something told me I needed to be here, so I rearranged my plans immediately.” Leary and Taylor led the caravan to Jennifer’s home, where some firefighters had arrived previously to lift her from the bed and put her in her wheelchair outside to enjoy a parade of fire trucks and firefighters.
