Land Of Misfit Ploys: Clear Channel KNIX/Phoenix's Barrel Boy has taken four listeners, known as "Barrel Boy's Misfits" on a road trip to the iHeartRadio Country Festival in Austin. The catch? None of them – including Barrel Boy – were allowed to take any money with them, they have no planned places to sleep and no access to the festival. "We wanted to send listeners to the show, but we didn't have any tickets," says APD/MD Anthony Allen. "So we came up with this idea where they can't take any money with them and they have to work their way there. So they're looking for opportunities from listeners, their families and friends from other parts of the country to help them." Barrel Boy and the four listeners, a social media person and the driver of their station-traded van have cleaned a coffee shop, worked at a construction site and cleaned a church to earn money for food, gas and accomodations. They even stopped by the Breaking Bad house in Albuquerque (pictured). Once they get to Austin, Allen says, "They'll try to weasel their way into the festival."
