Infinite Dial 2024
Megan-Lazovick.jpg Rank And Dial: The results of Edison Research's annual Infinite Dial survey of online audio media consumption were presented today (3/28) by VP Megan Lazovick. Among the key takeaways from Americans 12+ are: 
  • Smart speaker ownership dipped from 36% to 34%, though the percentage of owners with multiple devices in a household rose from 37% to 43%.
  • 60% of households own a radio in their home, while 26% have neither a radio nor smart speaker in their household.
  • Monthly podcast listening increased to a new high of 47%, after being off from 2021's 41% over the last two years.
  • Monthly online listening rose from 75% to 76%, or approximately 218 million people, with 90% of those under 35 listening online monthly.
  • Streaming brand awareness saw Pandora on top with 84%, followed by Spotify (81%), Apple Music (76%) and iHeartRadio and YouTube Music at 74% each. 
  • Spotify led in audio brand usage at 35%, followed by YouTube Music (19%) and Apple Music (14%).
  • Social media usage was flat at 82% (235 million people).
  • Facebook continued to lead social media awareness at 94%, followed by Instagram (92%) and TikTok (91%). X (formerly Twitter) was at 82% while newcomers Threads and Truth Social had 29% and 25% awareness, respectively.
  • Social media usage had Facebook at 63%, Instagram 44% and TikTok at 35%. Twitter, which was at 27% last year, is now at 19% as X.
