WLFP Update:
Howl Do You Like Me Now: Audacy's sale of WLFP/Memphis to Educational Media Foundation (EMF) (CAT 4/7) will not mean an end to "The Wolf" brand in the market. "We are not getting out of the Country business in Memphis," states an internal email obtained by Country Aircheck. "WLFP has been performing very well for Audacy Memphis, and we just recently added market veterans Duane [Shannon] and Abby [Summers] to afternoons. Audacy/Memphis is actually doubling down on the Country business, and we will be moving WLFP to another larger frequency reaching all the outlying areas in the Memphis metro area. We have a lot of big plans for The Wolf moving forward, including adding a local live midday host to our already stellar lineup."
The remaining Audacy/Memphis FM stations with their February Nieslen shares, rank and power are:
- AC WRVR 8.8 (3), 100,000 watts
- Hot AC WMC 6.0 (6) 300,000 watts (Grandfathered "super power" station)
- Sports WMFS 4.0 (7t), 6,000 watts
The memo seemingly rules out WMFS as an option, as it is a much smaller signal than WLFP's 50,000 watts. Requests for further comment from Audacy/Memphis went unanswered.
